Tapestries by William MorrisTapestries by William Morris are highly sought after and are
enjoyed generation after generation.
Morris, an artist, socialist reformer as well as a poet fought for the
return of medieval traditions regarding design when many were turning to the
Victorian era. His tapestries were based
on the realism found in nature. To
capture the true beauty only found in nature his primary means of dying came
from vegetables.
William Morris is
probably best known for his important part in the Arts and Crafts movement. William Morris’s dedication to design where
he elegantly merged nature, art and morality is a primary reason we can today
enjoy true craftsmanship in our homes through aesthetic beauty found in
tapestries. One of Morris's most famous tapestries is the Tree of Life.
